Lesson Title: FORGIVING AS GOD’S PEOPLE
Printed Text: Matthew 5:17-26
Key Verse: Matthew 5:23-24 (NIV)
Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:
People wonder if good, harmonious relationships are possible. Can’t we all just get along? Jesus teaches us that forgiveness is crucial to Christian living.
BIBLE FACT:
Jesus taught the character of God in this lesson. Forgiveness is vital in the kingdom of heaven, because it is what gains us entry into heaven—God’s forgiving us. Consequently, God commands and expects us to forgive others. As we struggle with the act of forgiveness, the question that we all must ponder and that is at the heart of the ministry of Jesus is, “Can there be redemption without forgiveness?” Both Jesus and the Bible say, “no.”
