Opening Day will look a lot different next year because St. Louis Cardinals Legend Lou Brock will no longer be among the Clydesdales and red convertibles.
The Hall of Famer passed away today (9/6/2020) at the age of 81.
Louis Clark Brock simply known as Lou Brock began playing professional baseball back in 1961 when he was drafted to the Chicago Cubs. Brock would end up spending 16 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals after being traded by the Chicago Cubs in 1964. According to CBS Sports during that time Lou Brock would win 2 World Series, was a 6x All-Star, finished in the Top 25 for MVP voting and was the runner up for the NL MVP Award in 1974.
Also during that time Lou Brock earned the title “Base-Stealing Icon” and in 1978 Brock had an award named after him while still being an active player making him the first major leaguer to do so, the Lou Brock Award goes to the National League’s leader in steals.
If you’ve ever been to a game you know you could run into Lou Brock and his wife at any moment because he loved to be among the fans, Cardinals Nation will definitely miss seeing baseball legend Lou Brock.
