Taraji P. Henson’s email account was hacked by a Chicago mother, who allegedly stole Taraji’s identity. Alicia Newby, 29, a pregnant mother of six who, according to her lawyer, is also bi-polar, trembled throughout a court hearing Sunday as prosecutors accused her of stealing the identities of several people, and collecting thousands of dollars in merchandise mailed to dummy addresses. Alicia Newby was charged with a single felony count of continuing a financial crime enterprise.
She was ordered released on a $10,000 signature bail and electronic monitoring but was forbidden from contacting victims or witnesses. She also can’t use the internet. Prosecutors didn’t name the alleged victims, but police and court records list Taraji P. Henson, 48, as one of them. Prosecutors say Alicia Newby’s scheme totaled more than $12,000 in fraudulent transactions. Over $4,000 was canceled after Taraji’s manager discovered the fraud last August. She also allegedly defrauded JP Morgan Chase, American Express and PayPal and other merchants.
