NOT OKURRR: Cardi B’s Trademark Application For ‘Okurrr’ Denied
The U.S. Patent and Trademark division said the phrase was considered, “widely-used commonplace expressions.” They also said “Okurrr,” “is a slogan or term that does not function as a trademark or service mark to indicate the source of applicant’s goods and/or services.” Cardi B filed the application for the trademark shortly after the phrase was the focal point in a Pepsi commercial that aired during this year’s Super Bowl. Cardi wanted to use the term for “paper goods, namely cups and posters.” She also wanted it for merchandise like leggings, t-shirts, bodysuits, undergarments, dresses and more.
