Get Ready: 2019 Essence Festival Lineup Announced

The 2019 Essence Festival will feature Mary J. Blige, NAS, Pharrell, Jermaine Dupri and Missy Elliott. The festival turns 25 this year. It’ll be hosted by Loni Love. Also set to perform are Anthony Hamilton, H.E.R., Ledisi, MC Lyte, Morris Day, Musiq Soulchild, Sheila E., Teddy Riley, Teyana Taylor, Queen Naija, Timbaland, Luke James, Big Freedia and PJ Morton. There also will be a special honor for Frankie Beverly for his lifetime contribution to music. Special performance highlights will happen for MJB’s “My Life” and NAS’ “Illmatic,” both albums also turn 25 in 2019. Others scheduled to perform are 702, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Brownstone, El Debarge, Elle Varner, Force MDs, Ginuwine, Jacquees, Mase, Normani, Rakim, Scarface, City Girls. More performers will be announced later.
