“SayWord” Charlack, Missouri Police Dept Disbands After Years of Speed Trap Complaints

“SayWord” I post things all the time, and when something effects me personally or hits home.  I have to share with the family. For years of driving down highway 170 between 70 and olive I’ve notice many cars pulled over and Charlack Police men on side of road waiting to catch one of us in the act of a moving violation.

Well finally someone or I should say many of people’s cries have been heard.  While former police chief Anthony Umbertino was convicted of stealing from the city. Charlack is a small St. Louis County town known for speed traps between airport and 170 south, has been disbanded.

This seems to be the normal round these parts cause another small part of St. Louis near by went through same Welston PD was disbanded recently as well.  North County Police cooperative will contract for the disbanded dept. Charlack and eight municipalities have been expected to lose police departments as a result of Senate Bill 5, which requires that St. Louis County municipalities’ general operating revenue not exceed 12.5 percent from traffic fines.
