Lesson Title: GOD SHOWS CLEMENCY
Faith Pathway/Faith Journey Topic: MERCY ME!
Printed Text: MICAH 7:14-20
Key Verse: MICAH 7:18 (NIV)
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy

UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:
Sometimes evil and injustice are not met with corrective justice but are, instead, trumped by mercy. Who will meet evil and injustice with mercy rather than with punishment? God will show compassion and faithfulness to His people—even to the unjust.
CONCLUDING REFLECTION:
The world deserves to be punished because of its treatment of the poor and practices of injustice and iniquity. While God has a right to bring wrath upon the world, He is more concerned that we repent and turn to Him. He is the God of compassion, mercy, love and forgiveness. Could you be the catalyst for renewal, restoration and forgiveness in your family, church or professional setting?
BIBLE FACT:
Mercy – The term merciful, from the word mercy, describes a quality of God and one that God requires His people to possess. The noun denotes compassion and love, not just feelings or emotions—as expressed in tangible ways. (From Baker’s Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology http://www.bibletools.com)
PRAYER:
Lord God, we confess our sins and acknowledge that we have strayed from the paths of righteousness on occasion. Grant that we will learn to live in harmony with Your will for our lives, forgiving and showing mercy to others we meet and know. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
