The Oscars: John Ridley Won Best Adapted Screen Play For “12 Years A Slave”

The 86th Annual Academy Awards embraced the breakthrough year for Black-themed motion pictures and Hollywood’s most coveted, top honor was the most diverse telecast on record. “12 Years A Slave” won Best Picture and gave Lupita Ngyong’o Best Actress in a Supporting Role but it was a dream come true for producer, screenwriter, John Ridley.
John Ridley won the 2014 Oscar for Best Adapted Screen Play.
Ridley is only the second African- American to only to win in the category. (Geoffrey Fletcher won for Precious)
